Soil (Mitti) Earth ki uppermost layer hoti hai jo rocks ke weathering aur organic matter ke decomposition se banti hai. India me alag-alag climate aur landforms ki wajah se different types ki soils paayi jaati hain.
India ke lagbhag har region me alag type ki soil milti hai. Alluvial Soil - Northern Plains, Black Soil - Deccan Plateau, Red Soil - South & East India, Laterite - Western/Eastern Ghats, Desert Soil - Rajasthan, Mountain Soil - Himalayan Region.
Soil hazaron saalon me rocks ke weathering, rivers ke deposition, wind action, rainfall aur organic matter ke mix hone se banti hai. Climate aur parent rocks soil formation ko affect karte hain.
