Himalayas South Asia ka ek young fold mountain system hai. βHimalayaβ ka meaning Abode of Snow hai. Ye duniya ke highest mountain systems mein se ek hai.
Himalayas Indus River se Brahmaputra River tak around 2,400 km extend hote hain. Ye mainly India, Nepal aur Bhutan mein present hain.
Himalayas ka formation Indian Plate aur Eurasian Plate ke collision se hua. Dono plates ke pressure se sediments fold aur uplift hue, jisse mountains bane.
Himalayas ki 3 main ranges hain: Himadri (Greater Himalaya): Sabse high range, glaciers aur snow-covered peaks. Himachal (Lesser Himalaya): Middle range, Kashmir, Kullu jaise valleys. Shiwalik: Sabse southern aur lowest range; yahan Duns milte hain, jaise Dehradun.

Himalayas water supply, agriculture, monsoon, biodiversity, tourism aur national security ke liye extremely important hain.
Himalayas abhi bhi gradually rise kar rahe hain because Indian Plate abhi bhi Eurasian Plate ki taraf move kar rahi hai.
